NOTICE: FALL/WINTER GATHERING RESCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 11–13, 2019

Dear NCGP Members and Friends:

The NCGP Coordinating Committee made the difficult decision to cancel the Fall/Winter Gathering scheduled for December 7–9, 2018, due to the high probability of inclement weather, including snow and ice. With members and supporters coming from across the state, we decided that the risk of endangering your safety was too great.

On Friday evening, January 11, the North Carolina Green Party (NCGP) will begin its statewide Winter Gathering at the Seedbed in Mebane, just outside Durham and Chapel Hill. Limited lodging available onsite.

Friday, Jan. 11: We'll begin Friday at 7:00 p.m. for an informal social event, with a live performance at 9:00 p.m. by folk musician and NCGP member Anna Lee Dillon. Celebrate our four inaugural campaigns in our first year on the ballot and enjoy music, an hors d'oeuvres potluck, and refreshments.

Saturday, Jan. 12: Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. The business meeting is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with onsite or offsite dinner to follow (your choice). The NCGP will provide a light breakfast before the meeting, and lunch. Dinner options to come.

Sunday, Jan. 13: We'll host a planning, strategy, and organizing discussion from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The NCGP will provide brunch. 

NCGP members and nonmember supporters are both encouraged to attend, though only dues-paid members may vote on party business. A detailed agenda will be emailed to NCGP members, then posted here.

This event is free and open to the public. Suggested donations of $25 to the NCGP are welcome at our Donate Page to help cover expenses.

We're holding our meeting at the beautiful Seedbed venue in rural Mebane. This is the same location where we held our 2017 Spring and Fall Gatherings. The Seedbed is the former location of the Stone House retreat center.

LODGING

Limited onsite lodging is available at the Seedbed Friday and Saturday nights. Suggested donation of $25 is highly encouraged for lodgers. To book a bed, please contact NCGP secretary Katie Coleman at [email protected]. Please note that reservations are necessary because space very is limited. There are no private rooms.

Several hotel/motel options are also available. Click here for a list of motel/hotel options near the Seedbed. Most are under $99 a night, with the exception of the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express & Suites locations in Mebane, both of which are more expensive.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SEEDBED IN MEBANE

Here is a map of the location. Look for "Green Party" signs directing your way as you approach Nicks Rd. Though the address is technically Nicks Rd, the Seedbed venue is down a small dirt road off Nicks. A simple green gate and a "Green Party" sign will mark the entrance to the dirt road. Turn onto this private road ("Hurston Rd.") and proceed till you see the parked cars. The Seedbed is on the left. 

If coming from Hwy 85 South: the most straightforward exit to get off is exit 153, Mebane Oaks Road / Tanger Outlets exit. It's a left onto Mebane Oaks Rd from the exit, and then ultimately a left onto Nicks Rd.

Don't forget to RSVP below. When RSVP'ing, please check the boxes to indicate whether you're coming to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, or whether you can make only one or two portions of the gathering. We need this info to plan for food.
